Our History

In the summer of 2006, after volunteering to coach the North Toronto Minor Peewee team, Jeremy Weisz, Alex Day, and Gabriel Diamond decided that teaching the game of baseball to young kids was exactly how they wanted to spend their summers. Brainstorming ways to turn their passion into a summer job, they teamed up with Lee Berger to add an element of business experience to the group. Recognizing that there was a lack of baseball camps in Toronto, the four decided to capitalize on the opportunity and in July of 2007, North Toronto Baseball Camp (NTBC) was born.

Early on, NTBC was well received by the community! From beginners to experienced players, boys and girls signed up to have fun with their friends and learn baseball in a pressure-free environment. Whether it was the weekly tournaments and cool giveaways, or the Scouting Reports and Bacha, there was something for everyone.

Our History

Over the next few summers, NTBC continued to grow! As the founders graduated from university and went on to pursue full-time careers, they soon realized they needed to address the future of NTBC. In order to kick-start the succession plan, Simon Weisz was added to the ownership group in 2009. Under Simon's leadership, enrolment continued to increase and NTBC successfully launched several new programs, including Elite Camp and Spring Clinics.

In 2015, the team decided to venture into a new sport to compliment their baseball programs, launching First Down Flag Football Camp. Using the same formula that made NTBC a success, flag football was an instant hit!

As the founders strived to meet the growing demand of the NTBC families for more sports programming, NTBC expanded to form True North Sports Camps offering baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer and multi-sport programs year round.

From our humble beginnings as a small baseball camp in North Toronto, our year-round sports programs have become a staple in the Toronto community. While we have changed our name to True North Sports Camps, the camper experience has remained the same!
