Q and A with our Executive Director: Courtney Berger

Continuing with our “Director Q and A” series, today we introduce our Executive Director, Courtney Berger!

Courtney graduated from Western University with an Honours Business Administration degree from Ivey. She subsequently attended law school at the University of Toronto and practiced as a management-side employment lawyer on Bay Street for 4 years before joining our staff as the Executive Director.

Courtney has been involved in True North Sports Camps for several years behind the scenes. She is responsible for overseeing the operations of the business, including hiring and training our staff, marketing, communications, finance and strategy. After having worked at a number of summer camps in the past and dedicated her free time to volunteering with children, Courtney knows what it takes to create a memorable experience for each and every camper.

1. What is your favourite sport?

To play, definitely football. To watch, hockey!

2. If you could meet any athlete, dead or alive, who would you meet?

Stephen Curry – not only is he an amazing basketball player, but he also has integrity and stands up for his beliefs.

3. M&Ms or Smarties?

Is there even a question? Definitely M&Ms!

4. Favourite Power Ranger?

Kimberly – the pink Power Ranger. She was my favourite when I was younger!

5. If True North had a mascot, what would it be?

That’s a tough question… maybe a maple leaf? Or a bear?

6. Favourite comic book?

Archie comics. I had a huge collection!

7. Next place on your travel list?

I would love to go to Iceland. There are some amazing hikes that I am dying to try.

8. Favourite N64 video game?

Mario Kart for sure.

9. Earliest childhood memory playing a sport?

T-ball with my sister. We were not very good when we were little, but had lots of fun playing!

10. What makes True North special?

Our staff! We have the most dedicated and enthusiastic coaches who are experts at their sports and love to share their knowledge of the game.
