COVID-19: A Message from our Founders

To our entire True North family, we hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. This unprecedented situation has been very difficult on all of us, however, it has also revealed a sense of community unlike anything we have witnessed before. It has been truly inspiring to see everyone rally together as we face this challenge united.

Thank you very much for all of the supportive and encouraging messages we have received - we miss all of our campers and young athletes! We are passionate about what we do, and the programs that we run; however, we have incredible respect for the messaging received from public health and the importance that social distancing plays in flattening the curve.

We hope to see everyone again beginning in the spring of 2021!

Now the good news! True North is excited to open our Summer Camps for registration on December 1st, 2020.  More information about our 2021 Summer Camps can be found here

As many families have, understandably, reached out to us regarding our plans for our upcoming programs, please find below several Frequently Asked Questions. Feel free to contact our office should you have any questions or concerns - we would be happy to discuss further: 416-619-1224 /

Stay safe and stay home!

The True North Team

How True North is Navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic in an effort to run camp in 2021?

We understand that navigating the COVID-19 pandemic can be challenging and we wanted to do our best to provide families with flexibility when it comes to registering for our 2021 Summer Camps. Below are a few ways in which we hope to do so:

  1. Pay Nothing Now: We recognize that these are uncertain times and because of that we are allowing families to register for camp without paying until May 1st, 2021.
  2. Cancellation Policy: We have updated our cancellation policy so families can know what to expect if in fact this pandemic continues into the summer time.  Our cancellation policy can be found here.

We have every intention of running camp in 2021 as long as it is safe to do so. The health and safety of both our campers and staff is our number one priority. We recognize that public health recommendations are constantly changing and may be different by the time camp rolls around, in saying that we have forecasted a few health and safety policies that we are preparing to follow during camp in 2021:

  1. Cohorts: If it is required, we are prepared to run camp in cohorts. This would mean keeping campers in smaller groups along with dedicated staff. We have been planning to request more permit space in 2021 so that we are able to run camp following this model if it is required.
  2. Camper and Staff Screening: Each day campers and staff will be screened before entering camp. Any staff or campers that fail the screening will not be allowed to attend camp that day. This screening will include contact tracing of the parents/guardians at pickup and drop-off.
  3. Increased Sanitation and PPE: We will be sure to make sanitizer and PPE available throughout the day to both our staff and campers. With regards to masks we will follow any requirements and recommendations by public health closer to camp. Equipment will be sanitized throughout the day and at the end of each day.
  4. Social Distancing: If required we will do our best to follow social distancing guidelines using tools such as: Hula-hoops, cones and other barriers to promote and encourage social distancing.

Please Note: the health and safety policies above are just ideas based on what we have forecasted that summer camp could look like in 2021. We will create and implement health and safety policies for camp closer to the summer following all public health requirements. The list above was updated as of November 24th, 2020.

True North is a small business that is still owned by the four founders who originally started the camp as a passion project 14 years ago. While we have grown in the past several years to expand the sports and programs that we offer, we remain a highly seasonal business. As like many other small businesses, we have been materially impacted by the cancellation of our programs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, which has resulted in us unfortunately having to lay off our incredible clinic staff. While we have been working tirelessly with our partners and vendors to assist in lowering expenses during this time, there are some costs that are simply unavoidable (including expenses such as office / storage rent, utilities and telecommunications, wages for full-time staff, administrative services such as website hosting, registration system, etc). We are evaluating all government relief aid available, including wage subsidies and small business loans to assist us in weathering this storm.

At this time, we are providing families a full credit for any cancelled registrations (all families were contacted directly regarding any program cancellations). These credits never expire and are transferrable amongst siblings. We will also honour the price you paid in 2020 for the same (or similar) program in 2021 and offer you early access to registering for our 2021 programs.

While we are offering credits in an effort to ensure that this pandemic does not irreversibly damage the viability of True North, it is not our intention to add to any hardship faced by our camp families during these uncertain times. Should a credit not be a viable option for your family due to financial constraints arising from COVID-19, please contact us to discuss other options.

Providing credits for our future programs is our best chance at protecting True North as a small business during this difficult economic time. We thank you in advance for your understanding of the difficult position we are currently facing.

Parent Testimonials

Thank you for setting up an amazing week for our boys. They loved the camp and Alyssa was incredible. They had so much fun everyday. I would highly recommend this camp to any parent and I think they would appreciate that you have made it engaging, fun and also a very responsible and caring camp. The fact that the coaches wore masks and asked health questions every day made us all feel very comfortable. Thanks again and we are looking forward to our second week of camp in August.

Thanks for your message. My kids LOVED mini camp. The adored their counsellor. She was always early and prepared and very adaptable and friendly. We hope to see her again soon. Please keep mini camp as a viable option. The Kids can relax or do a Different  activity in the morning and they have fun at mini camp in the afternoon. Thanks again Mini Camp!

Just wanted to thank you guys for last week's mini-camp at my house. All 5 kids had a blast and couldn't stop saying great things about Gabe. Five star review! Looking forward to the session in August.

Our kids has the best week with Sienna!  They ran to camp every morning and were in a great mood every day.  It was a huge success for us and also gave us a break every morning from the kids - the first time since March 12th!
